Erath Pinot Noir, 2005

This is an Oregon Pinot. The Erath vineyard is located in the northern Willamette Valley in Oregon.

Described as bright, with fresh fruit aromas of cherry, raspberry, and blueberry. Youthfull and exuberant with lots of sweet fruit on the palate with hints of spice and vanilla. Very versatile with food – fish, fowl, beef, pasta.

The wine store said this was a good Willamette pinot and I was not dissapointed. This wine was reminiscent of other Willamette Pinots I've had in the past a bright yet smooth finish and fruit forward.

Cycles Gladiator. Pinot Noir 2005

Cycles Gladiator

One of my new favorite pinot noirs and at a great price too! From the central coast in California, you should be able to find a bottle for around or even under $10.

from Cycles Gladiator's site:
"This is pure Pinot Noir with signature ripe black cola and a hint of spiciness on the nose. Core flavors of cherry and plum along with silky notes of wild berries and vanilla fill the mouth while the soft, velvety tannins and balanced acidity keeps the wine suspended into the finish. This is a substantial wine that can stand up to a number of rich foods. Try pairing it with plum-glazed game birds or salmon steaks with garlic mashed potatoes. It would also pair well with duck confit on a bed of roasted garlic and steamed spinach greens."
